Captain's log, stardate 99638.16;
"You should have killed me when you had the chance. I promise you will not get another." -Gowron
First deployed in early 2372, the Negh’Var-class was the newest and most powerful Klingon starship and was made the flagship of the Klingon Empire. Like most Klingon ships, the Negh’Var was heavily armed and built for aggressive combat.
At a length of 682.32 meters and a width of 470.09 meters, this ship wasn’t too much larger than the Galaxy-class Explorer used by the Federation making this a medium-sized starship, but it could punch well above its weight.
Negh’Var-Class Flagship:
Built to be the centre of any strong Klingon fleet, even though the flagship variant was less well armed compared to its other variant, it had a respectable front-heavy armament capable of tearing through even the toughest starships. However, its role as a flagship is shown heavily in its upgrade options, with a preference for fleet support and keeping itself alive.
Negh’Var-Class Warship:
Ridiculously well-armed in its front hull zone, the Warship variant also has access to a strong ignition attack to hurt ships at longer ranges as well as a better rear armament for counter-attacking any fool who dare believe they can beat the might of a true Klingon warship. On top of that, when you’ve torn the shields from their hull, and began to expose their compartments to space, they have squadron value to allow you to beam a truly terrifying number of Klingon warriors onboard.
Upgrades:
ISK Negh’Var:
The prototype of this class and Flagship of the Klingon Empire, the ISK Negh’Var was built to bring the Chancellor themselves into battle, and although they are not afraid of anything, other Klingons will happily throw down their lives to protect them from their enemies.
ISK Kang:
Named for the famed fallen Dahar Master, Kang, the ISK Kang takes on his spirit, crushing all those who dare try to destroy it. The devastating counter and long range ignition attacks it can perform will make any enemy think twice about destroying another Kang!
Gowron:
The Klingon Chancellor throughout the Dominion threat and war, Gowron was a skilled warrior and aggressive leader, pushing his men to destroy the enemy as fast as possible. However, he was flawed and overly fearful of being overshadowed by his lessors, leading him to want to take each killing blow to his enemies or else he began to punish his subordinates.
Kor:
One of the three most famous Dahar Masters, Kor would eventually sacrifice himself to protect the lives of other Klingons in the Dominion war, but now he can do it yet again by drawing all enemy fire to himself!
Koloth:
Another of the three Dahar Masters, Koloth was able to help fight off multiple enemies even while mortally wounded, showing his resilience. He can keep doing this, inspiring his crew to push on even while their ship is heavily wounded.
Kang:
The last of the most famous Dahar Masters, Kang spent his dying breath avenging his lost child, so it's fitting he can do this again striking out even after his demise.
Klingon Surgeon:
Although the Klingons are mighty warriors, they were poor doctors. Because of this, although Klingons can become doctors and surgeons, they are known for almost doing as much damage as they fix.
Klingon Warriors:
Possibly the most terrifying aspect of facing down the Klingon Empire and especially the massive Negh'var-class, isn't the devastating weapons; It’s the massive numbers of well-armed, angry and well trained Klingon Warriors that can beam over and wreak havoc on board your ship.
A Good Day To Die!:
Although the Klingon ships are tough both in weapons and armour, their crews are more likely to want to get up close and personal which can quickly get your ships ripped apart as fast as your prey. However, that's never stopped a good Klingon captain, so when they release their battle cries, they will do what they can for the Empire, because any day is a good day to die!
The Negh’Var is a terrifying ship for any captain to face, but it’s the combination of the ship and its skilled fierce crew that make it a true threat to all those who dare oppose the might of the Klingon Empire.
Points:
I've taken inspiration from Star Wars X-Wing 2.0 and not included points on the ship cards so I can adjust them in the future!
You can find the points for every ship and upgrade on this document!
If you like the look of this ship and cards and wish to use them, please go here to find my Negh’Var-Class Ship Pack for sale at only £1. It includes all the files for all the cards in this article as well as the ship base plates so you can print them out and use this ship in the game.
The cost is to fund my purchase of some test ship models from Shapways as I'm working with Armadillo Miniatures to hopefully bring the community star Trek Armada ships that are scaled to the game! Please check out their already wonderful store!
Thank you for reading,
